WA: New projects taskforce scrutinises big projects

The West Australian government has established a projects taskforce to scrutinise the
state's capital works programs.

Premier GEOFF GALLOP says the record levels of investment in the state's infrastructure
-- coupled with skills shortages and cost pressures -- warrants the highest level possible
of scrutiny.

He says the taskforce is made up of ministers from portfolios such as Housing and Works,
treasury, planning and infrastructure and small business.

Dr GALLOP says the key role of the taskforce is to hold government departments accountable
for the delivery of major projects, on time and on budget.
